Emotional Support Dog Sample Letter

An emotional support dog sample letter may be something you are curious about if you are airline staff, a landlord, property manager, mental health professional, or perhaps even a patient. These letters are very common and people in the commercial aviation and rental property industries commonly encounter them. There are three different types of letters for ESA dogs which are all for various purposes and they all must be issued by a mental health professional. In order to help alleviate the symptoms of their condition, I have prescribed them an emotional support animal. This animal’s presence and companionship is considered necessary for [Patient Name] quality of life and improving their condition by reducing the symptoms that they experience.

Letter For Flying

[Patient Full Name] is currently my patient and they have been under my care since [Date]. I have assessed their condition and have become very familiar with the symptoms that they experience and how their life is affected as a result. They also have functional limitations because of this condition and it inhibits them from doing day to day activities or tasks that would otherwise be considered to be normal and of significance.
Due to [Patients Name] disability, I have prescribed them an emotional support animal. There are certain aspects of their condition which require the support of this animal and its presence can result in a significant decline in the symptoms that they experience as a result of their condition.
Kindly allow [Patient Name] to be accompanied by their emotional support animal inside the aircraft cabin for the duration of the flight in accordance with The Aircraft Carrier Access Act.

Letter For Rental Properties

[Patient Full Name] is under my care and is currently my patient. I have become extremely familiar with their emotional disability and the functional limitations that they experience as a result of this disability. They clearly meet the definition of being disabled under The Fair Housing Act and due to their disability, I have prescribed them an emotional support animal.
There are specific limitations that [Patient Name] has which would otherwise be considered normal and the presence of this animal is required to mitigate the symptoms of their condition. It would also result in [Patients Name] ability to properly enjoy the dwelling and enhance their quality of life and increase their ability to live with independence. Because of this, the presence of this animal inside the dwelling that [Patients Name] is applying for or currently living in is necessary for their health.
