Emotional Support Dog Letter

But don’t worry, it’s very affordable to do this through us, and we can handle everything for you to make it as easy as possible.

Why Do I Need an Emotional Support Dog Letter?

There will be three main reasons regarding your need for this letter. One is for having permission to get an animal for the purposes of emotional support, two is to have your pet accompany you in a rented property, and the third is to have your hound on an airplane with you. Let’s break down why you need letters for these three reasons.

1 – Approval For an ESA

In order to have an ESA, you first will be assessed by a licensed mental health professional. You must also be suffering from a chronic medical condition such as stress, anxiety, insomnia, or depression to name a few. This professional will see if getting an ESA would greatly assist in mitigating the symptoms of your condition. If so, they will provide you with an approval letter which will enable you to get an ESA. Once you have acquired a letter of approval it is easy to get certified online in no time, we can even do it for you.

2 – Residential Tenancy Application

In order for your pet to live alongside you in a rental property, you will need an official licence stating that this is permitted. Under most circumstances, a landlord is not allowed to discriminate against people who have ESA’s. They also can’t ask for additional information regarding your medical condition and why you need the animal. In some cases, the landlord would even have to be liable to make modifications to the property to suit you and your animal’s needs.

3 – Flying on Airplanes

ESA’s are protected by The Air Carrier Act, and they can’t be discriminated against on airplanes either. Unless your pet is very large, you most likely would have to provide advanced notice to the airline that you are flying with it. They could also be able to accompany you in the cabin and even sit next to you or on your lap. An airliner must also not charge any additional fees for accommodating your dog, and they will be able to fly completely free of charge.

Getting This Letter

That about covers all the basics regarding the paperwork you would need for an ESA dog. The first one needs to be done once per dog, as once they are on the registration they will stay on it, and the other two would need to be done every time you move house or want to take your animal on a flight with you.
